To everyone: Thank you kindly for your kind words abotu the car and photos.

hanzjepanzje schreef:Looks great! I'm still waiting for one of those babies to turn up in 1:18 (apart from MG Models, which I totally can't afford  ). The livery is great and you wouldn't immediately say that it's a 1:43, and for a model of that size, it's a compliment!

I would love to have some 1:18 Ferrari GT cars in my collection. But MG models are just too expensive for me. :( For me, the only feature of the car that may make me think it is a 1:43 are the wheels. If you look really closely, they have small imperfections around the edge. But the body and paint is absolutely beautiful!

What kind of setting and setup do you use to make those beautiful pictures?

My photo set-up is very inexpensive and quite simple. If I take photos at night, I use the following set-up:

Afbeelding

It includes two 50W halogen lights, table, reflective black poster board, camera and tripod. My camera is only 3.2MPixels but does have full manual control. It is a 3 year old Canon S30.

If I take photos in the daytime, I move my set-up to the kitchen. Cloudy days are better than really sunny days because the light is more diffused or scattered. The good thing is that there is less chance that sunlight reflects off the car windows and shiney parts to result in bright spots of reflected light.

It is really too bad I do not speak any Dutch. If I did, then I could enjoy your forum much more!

Useless information about me: My favourite Dutch candies are Hopjes, and I do like Droste chocolates a lot too.

 they sell those lamps even in Canada. Most certain I've seen the exact same around here in Holland. Considering the quality photo's you get with them, I'll see if I can get my hand on 2 of them.

Lightning, good camera and a tripot really do the trick. Looks cool!

I should tell you that I do NOT turn on the top light when I take the pictures. That helps keep the black background behind the car as black as possible. This is what happens when you do not.

Of course, if your car has a lot of black parts to it, you may actually WANT to do that so the black parts is more visible. Here is an example when the black rear wing does not show up very well. I took this photo using halogen lights.

Other times, you can play with the lighting by using ONLY one light to get special effects. Here is another photo of the same car where I wanted to show the curves around the wheels better.

Just feel free to experiment a lot! It does not cost money to throw away digital pictures like it does with film photos.

Haagse Hopjes? Maybe you could use the following translationsite:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/ You can select to which language wants translate you. Engels naar Nederlands means English to Dutch and Nederlands naar Engels means Dutch to English. Thus can you stick complete pieces text of the forum and then you have the forum in English!
Please note: you can translate maximum 150 words by time.

That Ferrari is just looking superbly :worshippy:
Like Hans mentionend before, an affordable 1:18 550GTC or 575 GTC mdel would be very nice.
I have read somewhere that Mattel had the right on the 1:18 scale. Let's hope that they will makes those cars on the Elite brand of Mattel.

Very nice pictures, that BMW is a really nice view

Yes, those are the ones I like! My father used to buy them in a rectangular tin with a round or oval lid.

Thank you for recommending that website. I tried it once to translate a diecast article from German to English for my Russian friend. It was not easy at all! It compared the ride of a Viper GTS-R to "strong black coffee".

Yes, Mattel has exclusive rights to make 1:18 models. They paid around US$5 Million for it. Sadly, I do not think they will make high-end and high-quality race cars.

Here is something for you DTM fans! It is a Minichamps Audi A4 from the 2004 DTM. It was raced in Shanghai by Dindo Capello.

I actually bought this car for my son. He saw it in a diecast store's website. Since there was a sale, I picked it up for him. So, he is one with good taste for race cars. For myself, I really want more Opel Astra V8 DTM cars. IF I could find the Minichamps/Action ones in 1:18, I would be very happy. But I think I will also look for some of the MC 1:43 Opels too.

How many of these do you have?

From the 1:18 i had 1, the one with the Jägermeister livery :shifty: but i sold it, because i only want compleet sets. From the 1:43 scale i have all the original Opel that are brought out by Minichamps from 2000 till 2004 (and were waiting for 2005 :D), but there are still coming about 12 cars (i already completed 3) from the 2000 and 2001. I have to put other decals, rims or a compleet paintjob on the cars, but some cars are very hard to find by now, so this wil take a while :|
The total now is 44 (Astra and Vectra)
