Op Zandvoort na hebben alle circuits een contract voor 2010. Of de race in Barcelona doorgaat is echter nog onzeker. Nadat de Formule 1 race op het Catalaanse circuit was verreden, meldden de organisatoren diep in de rode cijfers terecht te zijn gekomen. Het circuit in Valencia zou de vervanger kunnen worden. Tevens heeft de organisatie een aanbod gekregen van het Nederlandse Assen en het Britse Donington.

Albers houdt hoop op DTM

Christijan Albers hoopt volgend jaar weer DTM te rijden. De Nederlander is opnieuw in onderhandeling met Audi, maar door de slechte economische situatie is het lastig een stoeltje te veroveren.
Terwijl de kranten melden dat de economie aantrekt, merkt Albers daar weinig van. “Sterker nog”, zegt hij, “het gaat niet een beetje slecht met de wereldeconomie, maar echt heel erg slecht.”

“Kijk alleen maar naar hoe moeilijk het is voor mensen om hun huis te verkopen. Niet zo verwonderlijk dus dat het lastig is om een stoeltje te vinden bij een team dat je betaalt om te racen. Want voor niks doe ik het niet.”

Racen voor Audi in de DTM staat weliswaar hoog op het verlanglijstje van Albers, maar of het ook daadwerkelijk gaat lukken, weet de voormalig Formule 1-coureur niet. “Het is zo moeilijk in te schatten.”

Hij legt uit: “Audi heeft vorig jaar een record aan auto’s verkocht, het gaat eigenlijk hartstikke goed met ze, en toch gaan ze hun budget inkrimpen om grote klappen te voorkomen.”

Het streven van Audi is om begin december de rijdersbezetting bekend te maken.



Zou het wel weer stoer vinden om een Nederlandse rijder te hebben in de DTM.

DTM: Specifications of the new DTM car
Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters-organiser ITR has put forward a proposal on specifications for their new car, set to be introduced in 2011 or 2012. ITR is looking to merge the new DTM rules with the GT500 class of the Japanese Super GT-series.

Japanese magazine Autosport reported the following specifications suggested for the new DTM/GT500 car:

- Common carbon monocoque with roll cage
- Wheelbase of 2850 mm
- Common front and rear overhang
- Common front spoiler and rear diffuser
- V8 engine of yet to be announced size
- Limited number of engines during season
- Introduction of "design line" where on one side all cars are common
- 51% cost reduction compared to current DTM regulations

A DTM car is reported to have been brought over to Japan for a comparison with a GT500 car. Spanish site Sportmotores reported that the difference between the both cars were seven seconds per lap.

The Japanese teams are seemingly positive about the new plans but think that it will not be ready for next year.

"The negotiations are positive if you think about the future. But I do not think the regulations will be put in to force before 2012," said NISMO president Sanda to the Japanese magazine Autosport.

Lijkt mij wel mooi.
Mercedes en Audi maken er al jarenlang een bijzonder saai feestje van.
De heftige Japanse wagens van Lexus, Nissan, Honda en wellicht Mazda zijn meer dan welkom.

Met name het geluid van die Honda is erg lekker.

Bovendien heeft BMW (ook duits, maargoed) eventueel ook mee zal doen met de ALMS M3 als dit feestje doorgaat =)

Duitsland en Japan, nog steeds goede vrienden zo blijkt.

Nu alleen in positieve zin dan. De Super GT wagens zien er allemaal prachtig uit. Aangezien ze ook aanzienlijk sneller zijn is het helemaal een mooi voordeel. Alleen ik vraag me af of door die nieuwe regels de 4-doors saloons zullen verdwijnen, aangezien alle GT500 wagens coupe's zijn.

Dit kan betekenen dat Audi bijvoorbeeld met de R10 aan de slag gaat en Mercedes met de SLS

CarChannel heeft uitzendrechten van DTM, Formula 3 en BTCC

CarChannel heeft de uitzendrechten voor drie jaar toegewezen gekregen van Wige TV Marketing GmbH om 13 raceklassen waaronder de DTM races, de Formula 3 Euro Series (de bakermat voor de F1) en de BTCC in Nederland uit te zenden op haar digitale TV kanaal.

De DTM is het belangrijkste toerwagen kampioenschap binnen Europa. Er wordt bij deze discipline geracet met grote automerken zoals Audi en Mercedes-benz. Veel bekende coureurs in de autosport rijden in de DTM. Het DTM raceseizoen bestaat uit zeven mooie races, verspreid over vijf landen. De opening vindt plaats op het circuit van Hockenheim. De Formula 3 Euro Series is een van de belangrijkste formule wagen opstapklasse en de bakermat voor de Formule 1. De F3 races staan garant voor spektakel. De Formule 3 races worden bijna altijd verreden in het voorprogramma van de DTM. Tijdens een DTM weekend geniet de kijker sowieso van twee spectaculaire F3 races.

Het BTCC is een populaire Engelse toerwagenklasse die goed te vergelijken is met de WTCC klasse. Elk seizoen wordt er gestreden voor het kampioenschap bij de coureurs, de teams en de constructeurs. In deze klasse wordt er gereden met veel bekende en snelle automerken. Voor de autoliefhebber dus zeker het kijken waard. De uitzendrechten van de 24 uur van Nurburgring vallen ook onder het contract. Deze 24-uurs race is te vergelijken met de 24 uur van Le Mans. Deze duurrace is te omschrijven als moeilijk en gevaarlijk en met 170 starts indrukkwekkend te noemen.

Andere autosport evenementen die op CarChannel aanbod komen en zeker het kijken waard zijn; Mille Miglia rally in Italië, de Ferrari Challenge en De Red Bull Moto GP Rookies.

Wat is CarChannel?
CarChannel is het eerste Nederlandstalige digitale televisiekanaal dat zich volledig richt op de auto- en motorwereld in de breedste zin van het woord. CarChannel biedt een ruim aanbod aan nieuws, informatie, sport en entertainment.

DTM kan mij gestolen worden. Is in het algemeen erg saai en al die Mercedi en Audum met flapjes en uitgerangeerde F1-rijders icm Norbert Haug langs de pitmuur maken het ook geen genot om naar te kijken.
De actie van 1994/1996 zou weer eens mooi zijn

BMW expected to announce DTM return soon

BMW are expected to announce their return to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters shortly.
"The BMW Board of Management is going to decide in the coming weeks. We look forward to once again welcome BMW to the DTM," said ITR board member Thomas Betzler to Focus.
BMW last took part in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters during the eighties, with Roberto Ravaglia claiming the title in 1989.

The DTM is scheduled for new regulations next year, a step mainly done to attract new manufacturers. BMW has been present during the discussions on the coming regulations.

"We have presented our concept to BMW and we know that it is going to get a benevolent reception in Munich. It is not without a reason that BMW has been regulars at all major DTM meetings," said Betzler.

Audi and Mercedes have been alone in the DTM since 2005 and most recent champions Audi are hoping to see BMW joining them.

"We have worked feverishly behind the scenes on the new regulations that are going to take effect in 2011. I am pretty sure that this decision attracts more manufacturers, perhaps even one from Bavaria," said Audi sales director Peter Schwarzbauer.

If BMW returns to the DTM, they are not likely to remain in the World Touring Car Championship.

BMW confirms plans for DTM 2012 entry

BMW has confirmed plans to enter the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters in 2012.
"The planned return to the DTM is an exciting challenge for our team," said BMW Motorsport boss Mario Theissen.
"Over the coming months we will be making all the necessary technical preparations that should allow us to be competitive right from the start should we join the series in 2012," said Theissen.

BMW is planning to use the BMW M3 as model in the DTM.
"Thanks to its great tradition in production car racing, the BMW M3 is predestined to be used as the basic car. In 2011 we will once again be lining up with our BMW M3 GT2, which is contesting its debut season in Europe this year," said Theissen.

According to information to TouringCarTimes.com, BMW is expected to be on the grid already next season with a "light" programme ahead of a full works effort in 2012.

The future for BMW in the World Touring Car Championship is still undecided. The German manufacturer is developing the new 1.6-liter world engine for 2011, but if BMW is going to be represented with an official works team is not decided yet.

"A new racing car is being developed as a successor to the current BMW 320si for the coming years. How the BMW involvement in the World Touring Car Championship will look beyond the 2010 season will be decided over the course of the year," the official BMW statement read.

Opel to Join BMW in 2012 DTM?
Opel might be joining BMW in returning to the DTM in 2012 with its Opel Insignia.

Could we see more than one manufacturer return to the DTM fray in 2012, with Opel joining the fun too? Well, according to media speculation, this could well be the case. Although there is speculation, there has been no confirmation from Opel itself.

It would be huge for the fans if Opel returned to DTM, and according to reports Opel is eager to return to the sport. In fact, the brand already has a concept for its 2012 return on the shelf, so to speak.

It is speculated that Opel could compete with its Insignia model, and with the new regulations coming into the sport in 2012, along with the return of BMW, it could make for a perfect fit.

Volker Brien, spokesman for Opel, noted “It’s far too early to speculate about it, it has not yet been decided.” He went on to say that no decision would be made rashly. “There are many racing series in Europe,” Brien noted, “We consider different approaches.”
