Williams FW18 met tabaksreclame?!

wie kunnen we hiervoor raadplegen? er moet toch iemand zijn die hier verstand van heeft..

misschien ligt het toch in het feit dat Rothmans en Barclay geen sigarettenmerken meer zijn (dat er met deze merknamen geen sigaretten meer gemaakt worden). Want er komen steeds meer wagens uit met de bekende Rothmans reklame, zowel in 1:43 en 1:18..

Mogelijk dat zelfs John Player Special weer mag, alhoewel dit merk als Players in de US wordt verkocht...

We wachten wel weer af wat het wordt. In ieder geval heb ik een prachtige 1:43 Williams FW16 met Rothmans in de vitrine gezet (No 20 in mijn 1:43 Senna Collection). Laten we hopen dat we er nog meer van mogen verwachten

Maar Barclay is nog steeds een gangbare sigaret die verkocht wordt, dus daar ligt het niet aan.

Hollywood wordt ook nog steeds verkocht.

Op die ene Barclay van Irvine na zijn het inderdaad allemaal Rothmans modellen die nu (her)uitgebracht worden.
Moet je je voorstellen dat zometeen ook alles met Marlboro uit gaat komen, dan lacht Minichamps zich dood met de oude McLaren's en de Ferrari's van voor 1999.

Maar ja ik weet ook nog steeds niets over het hoe en waarom en wat wel en niet mag Ik vind het in ieder geval niet erg als ze al die modellen origineel zouden uitbrengen.

According to Grand Prix Legends a new EU law comes into force sometime in June or July banning all Tobacco advetising on toy/model cars.

Upto now the model manufactuers have had a gentlemans agreement not to have Tobacco advertising on their models.

As the law is changing, the some model manufactuers have decided to make a limited run of Tobacco liveried models prior to the law change.

08-July-2004 NEWSFLASH !!! Rothmans have today sent a further letter to all UK dealers advising them they can no longer sell Rothmans decaled models of any description and if they fail to comply they face legal action. The letter goes on to say that they will even have 'spotters' at the British Grand Prix this weekend just in case dealers try to offload any models there !

This now means that the 1/18th Le Mans Porsche 956 cars and the 1/43 three car boxed set will now be released without the said markings. We are not sure if other dealers outside the UK have received similar letters but we wouldn't be surprised. We also have it on good authority that far less than the full 2,496 production run of the Porsche 959 rally car of Kussmaul/Unger actually made it to dealers, precisely how many though we don't know.

05-July-2004 It was a very quiet day at the NEC yesterday possibly due to the nice weather and a plethora of sporting events to watch on TV however one thing I did find out however was the full story behind the Rothmans saga. As a result of one well known retailer placing a full page advertisement for the 1/18th scale Ayrton Senna FW16 with Rothmans livery in a national publication Phillip Morris obviously didn't have to look far to find out who was responsible for manufacturing the models !

At this point Phillip Morris then started contacting dealers individually. One dealer I spoke to yesterday told me he woke up in the morning to find his fax machine had been working overtime - upon further investigation it turned out to be from Rothmans in Pall Mall requesting for all images containing the Rothmans logo to be removed from his website. This was then backed up with a special delivery letter to him on Phillip Morris headed paper. He then took the liberty of ringing their legal department direct and was told that they could demand that all the models containing the said livery in his possession be destroyed however if he was willing to comply and remove all the images no further action would be taken.

It seems that Minichamps had in fact planned to release the Porsche 956's 3 car set with Rothmans livery at Le Mans last month but they had to pull all the models at the last moment to avoid a recall. Where these are now is anyone's guess but we suspect they are in fact gathering dust in the corner of a warehouse.

So where does this leave us now ?? Well if history is to repeat itself I would recommend if you have still to buy a model with these tobacco markings I would do so very quickly to avoid disappointment, especially the 1/43 Senna FW16 and the Porsche 959 Paris Dakar rally cars. Also there is no chance the BMW M1 of Niki Lauda complete with full Marlboro livery and the Mario Andretti M1 being released in either the UK or US due to the strict advertising laws.

01-July-2004 Here's a news item from one of our German reporters who just happens to have had this story verified by Minichamps themselves. It seems the Porsche 959 Paris Dakar #187 Kussmaul/Unger with Rothmans decals has been withdrawn by Minichamps - sales were stopped due to a problem with Phillip Morris who own the Rothmans brand.

Apparently there will be no further 956 or 959 Porsches or any other models for that matter with Rothmans markings. There have been very few delivered to dealers and this has been supported by the fact that some have received none of their allocation.

Whilst on the subject of Porsche the Pink GT1 is rumoured to have been produced as a limited edition of no more than 12 pieces !! As only 5 were offered as prizes in the Modell Fahrzeug annual vote this means that the remaining 7 models were either kept back by Minichamps or Modell Fahrzeug.

Ik weet alleen hoe het in de v.s. gaat; modellen mogem met tabak en alcohol merken bedrukt worden, als maar duidelijk word dat het om een " collectable" gaat en niet om speelgoed. Daarom zit er meestal een acryl kap overheen, of staat er op dat het niet verkocht mag worden aan personen onder 21 jaar. Op de speelgoedmodellen word dan de sponsornaam weggelaten of vervangen door de voornaam v.d.coureur. Zo krijg je dan een "mass market" en een "hobby market" uitgave, waarbij de hobby de versie met "bud" of "winston" erop is.

Minichamps is van Action, dus mischien houden ze zich wel aan de regels van het moederbedrijf??

Doorgeschoten onzin om die modellen niet van tabaksreclame te voorzien. Zo onzinnig, ik wil een model dat lijkt op het echte model. Ik kan me er zo boos over maken. Moet je weer een setje decals kopen om die witte vlakken op de Ferrari op te leuken.

Van al die tabaksreclame krijg ik direct trek in een sigaret. Ik denk dat ik maar eens ga beginnen met roken...

Straks gaan ze nog de kleuren van de merken verbieden (Marlboro rood, maar ook Gauloise Blonde-blauw (Bugatti-blauw). De legende gaat dat Bugatti's geschilderd werden in de kleur van het pakje Gauloises van Madame Bugatti...)

Ik vind het ook allemaal ontzettend overtrokken, mensen gaan echt niet beginnen met roken als ze Rothmans op een schaalmodel zien staan, net zomin als dat mensen gaan stoppen met roken omdat er nergens meer tabaksreclame mag worden gemaakt.

Maarja van alle belangrijke zaken in de wereld, zoals de terreurdreiging in Nederland en de hongersnood in Kenia vinden de grote meneeren de tabaksreclame blijkbaar het belangrijkst

Misschien zijn jij en ik wijs genoeg om dit in te zien, maar poppetjes van tussen de 13 en 18 jaar die er op school er graag bij wil horen, en besluiten te gaan roken hebben natuurlijk een hele makkelijke keuze qua sigarette als hij/zij fan zijn McLaren of Ferrari

Er is een nieuw Sennamodel uit in de schaal 1:18 met jawel sigarettenreclame van John Player Special

Tevens zit dit model in een speciale giftbox, niet alle verzamelaars zijn blij met 1`:18 giftboxen, omdat deze niet het plactic veenster hebben. Maar er zijn uiteraard meerdere giftboxen in de schaal 1:18
